Figma Plugin
Apptonomy Bridge is the Figma plugin that turns your design file into localized App Store and Google Play screenshots and sends them back to the platform. You design each screen once, bind the text to your project’s strings, preview it in any target language, and export finished images straight to your project.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- A project in Apptonomy with its strings and target languages already set up.
- Edit access to a Figma file. If you don’t already have a structured file, start from the Apptonomy Figma template — the webapp’s Figma page has an Open Figma Template button that opens a pre-configured file with device frames and text wired to variables.
- A plan that includes exporting screens from Figma. Connecting, previewing, and localizing work on any plan; the Export step is gated. See Plans and entitlements.
How the pieces fit together
Section titled “How the pieces fit together”Three surfaces do three jobs:
- The webapp configures. You set up the project, its strings, and its target languages, and you generate the plugin credentials. Exported screenshots also land here, and this is where you publish to the store.
- The plugin designs, localizes, and renders. Inside Figma you bind text layers to strings, preview each locale, and export the frames as images.
- The platform publishes. Exported images arrive in your project, ready to attach to a store listing.
Install the plugin
Section titled “Install the plugin”1. Open the Figma settings for your project
Section titled “1. Open the Figma settings for your project”In Apptonomy, open your project and go to the Figma page. It has two sections: Apptonomy Figma Template and Apptonomy Figma Plugin.
2. Install Apptonomy Bridge
Section titled “2. Install Apptonomy Bridge”Click Install Figma Plugin. This opens the Apptonomy Bridge listing in Figma. Install it, then open it in your Figma file from Plugins → Apptonomy Bridge.
Connect the plugin to your project
Section titled “Connect the plugin to your project”The plugin does not use an Apptonomy login. It authenticates with a Project ID and a Plugin Key, both of which come from the webapp.
1. Copy your Project ID and Plugin Key
Section titled “1. Copy your Project ID and Plugin Key”On the same Figma settings page, find the Project ID and Key area. Click the copy button next to Project ID, then next to Plugin Key. From inside the plugin you can also click Get your key to jump straight to this page.
2. Enter them in the plugin
Section titled “2. Enter them in the plugin”On the plugin’s login screen, paste the values into Project ID and Plugin Key, then click Submit. On success the plugin opens to your project home.
Switch or select a project
Section titled “Switch or select a project”Once connected, the project dropdown at the top of the plugin home lists every project your credentials give you access to. It reads Select Project until one is chosen; pick a different project from the dropdown to switch. The Preview Language and Export controls always act on the currently selected project.
Verify it worked
Section titled “Verify it worked”- The plugin shows your project name in the dropdown at the top.
- A Preview Language picker and an Export button are visible.
- Selecting a language and clicking the refresh icon next to it pulls the latest strings for that project without error.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting””Failed to set credentials”
Section titled “”Failed to set credentials””The Project ID or Plugin Key is wrong, or they belong to different projects. Re-copy both from the project’s Figma settings page in the webapp — use the copy buttons rather than typing them — and submit again. If the Plugin Key field on that page reads None, the key hasn’t been generated yet; generate it in the webapp first.
The project dropdown is empty or stuck on “Select Project”
Section titled “The project dropdown is empty or stuck on “Select Project””The credentials are valid but no project resolved. Confirm you copied the Project ID and Plugin Key from the same project, then reconnect.
