Managing Your Subscription

Everything about your plan and payment lives on the Billing page, reachable from the organization menu. This page walks through each action. For what each tier actually includes, see Plans & entitlements.

  • Billing is owner-only. Admins and members don’t see the Billing page. See Members & roles.
  • The Billing page has four tabs — Subscription, Add-ons, Invoices, and Payment — plus a Stripe Portal button that opens Stripe’s hosted billing portal in a new tab.

If your organization has no active subscription, the Subscription tab shows a plan picker.

Pick Basic, Pro, or Elite. If you’re eligible for a trial, the picker offers a 7-day free trial and the button reads Start 7-day Free Trial — no charge today, and billing begins only if you continue after the trial ends. If you’re not eligible for a trial, the button reads Continue to Checkout.

Confirm the plan, then continue to Stripe’s secure checkout to enter payment details (or start the trial). When checkout finishes, Stripe returns you to the Billing page and your new plan takes effect.

With an active subscription, open the Subscription tab and click Change Plan (on the plan card), then choose a tier.

  • Upgrades take effect immediately. You’re charged a prorated amount for the rest of the current period, and the higher limits and features unlock right away.
  • Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep your current tier until then.

Confirm in the dialog. Upgrades show a proration note; downgrades show the date the change lands.

The Add-ons tab manages the Extra Project Slot add-on — one additional project per slot, stackable.

  1. Use the and + stepper to set how many extra slots you want.
  2. The card shows the running monthly total.
  3. Click Add or Remove to save the change.

Add-ons need an active subscription and aren’t available while a cancellation is scheduled. Enterprise already includes unlimited projects, so the add-on doesn’t appear there.

The Invoices tab lists every invoice with its date, amount, and status (Paid, Open, Void, or Uncollectible). Each row links out to the hosted invoice and to a downloadable PDF. Invoices appear after your first billing cycle.

The Payment tab shows your cards on file, with the default one badged. To add, replace, or remove a card, click Manage on Stripe (or Add Payment Method) — this opens the Stripe portal, where card changes are made.

If your subscription needs a card — during a trial about to end, or after a failed payment — the Subscription tab shows a No Payment Method alert with a button to add one.

On the Payment tab, an active or trialing subscription shows a Cancel Subscription button. A short exit survey appears first. After you confirm, the subscription is set to cancel at the end of the current billing period — you keep access until then, and the Subscription tab shows a “Subscription Canceling” banner with the end date.

Before the period ends, click Resume Subscription (on the Subscription banner or the Payment tab) to cancel the scheduled cancellation and stay active with no lapse.

When an organization can no longer pay, its workspace becomes read-only: editing, running audits, and publishing are disabled, and the affected controls show a tooltip with an Add Billing Info link. This happens in three states:

  • Trial expired — the free trial ended without a paid plan.
  • Canceled — the subscription was canceled and the period has ended.
  • Past due — a renewal payment failed.

Your projects and past audits are preserved in every case — read-only means locked, not deleted. To restore full access, open the Billing page and add a payment method or start a plan; the owner is the one who can do this. A temporary over-quota grace state does not lock the workspace.

Billing is owner-only. If you’re an admin or member, ask the organization owner to make the change, or have ownership transferred to you. See Members & roles.

My plan change to a lower tier hasn’t happened yet

Downgrades are scheduled for the end of the current billing period, not applied immediately. The confirmation dialog shows the date it takes effect. Upgrades, by contrast, are immediate.

The app is read-only and won’t let me edit

Your organization is in a trial-expired, canceled, or past-due state. Open the Billing page and add billing to restore access. Your data is intact.
